5 Truths About Post Grad Life.

Congratulations on graduating! You've made it this far and that's a hell of an accomplishment. Now that you've graduated fasten your seatbelts for a ride I like to call post grad life.

Job searching blues.
Your entire life you've been told to go to college to better your chances at getting the job you want. Then once you got into college and took out x-amount of money to complete your degree, you find out the truth...your degree WILL NOT guarantee you employment after graduating.  Next thing you know, you've spent 6 months out of school job searching your life away in your pajamas back at moms house. Then you think to yourself, "Did I really just spend 4 years of my life in college for this??".

Quarter life crisis.

The question in the last point is most definitely a question that cues your quarter life crisis, along with questions like: "What am I doing with my life?", "Why did I rush to graduate?" or even thinking about how you never thought your twenties would be like this. Those are all thoughts that will enter your mind many a few times. Shortly after that, you'll start thinking of going back to school to get a master's or picking up and moving to another city/state or even moving back in with your parents (Seriously, that really does happen. And more often than you'd think).

Making new friends post grad.
I've seen this question being asked a lot lately and I honestly wonder about it as well. I guess becoming friends with your coworkers is an idea. However I imagine it being something like grade school where you're only friends with someone because you see them 5 days a week (Not always the case, but just saying). Of course there's always joining organizations that you're passionate about and making friends that way. Deep down we all know that no one can compare to our college besties, though.

Bills.
Say good bye to the days of furnished apartments that include utilities, because you'll not only be paying for the apartment, but water, electric, food, furniture, insurance and paying back that mean ol' devil lady, Sallie Mae. You may not even be able to decorate until you've been in your place for at least six months to a year. It's real out here in these post graduate streets, ya'll.

Wild Nights.
Remember those awesome parties you attended in college? Well, parties get even more awesome after graduating. I'm talking about Netflix all night, in your pajamas drinking wine. Of course the party is a party of one (or more if you're around friends/family), but I digress.

In all honesty life after graduating is what you make it. If you've taken the steps in undergrad to ensure you won't be a post grad statistic, then more power to you. As for the rest of you, this stressful time in your life could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe you'll tap into some talent you had and start a business or realize that you're passionate about something you never imagined yourself doing. If there's anytime to do what you want, it's now. So with that I will leave you with a few words from my favorite friend Monica,

  1. I can definitely relate to these truths.

If you're not prepared, post grad life will bring with it a serious reality check.

The two truths I can relate to most are the quarter life crisis and the bills. Both of them are no joke!
